What We’re Praying For
Each week has a focus that builds on the last:
Pray for revival and renewal at Lifepointe.

Choose your fast: Ask the Holy Spirit what He’s leading you to do. It could be a full fast, partial fast, or Daniel fast.
Prepare your heart: This is about more than discipline. It’s about devotion.
Stay connected: Join us each week as we gather for prayer, worship, and teaching.
Feed your spirit: Engage with the devotional every day. Don’t just empty your plate — fill your soul.
Fasting has been an important part of the doctrine and practice of the Assemblies of God since its beginning. Fasting is a voluntary, private, and Spirit-led separation from one’s usual activities of life. Typically it is practiced individually by members in the church body by means of separating certain foods and liquids from one’s diet. Normally fasts are held in accompaniment with prayer, and are intended to heighten focus, intensify fervor, and gain control over one’s fleshly cravings and human will.
• Fast one meal a day.
• Fast one or two meals per day.
• Fast one or two entire days or more.
If you go completely without food for a full day or longer:
Drink plenty of water.
Drink some fruit juice for energy.
Remember that some medications should not be taken
without food.

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.
This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.
This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.

Daniel Fast

The Daniel Fast is a partial fast based on a story from the biblical Book of Daniel. It's a strict vegan diet that prohibits animal products, leavened bread, processed foods, caffeine, and alcohol for 10–21 days. Some folks follow the diet as an act of spiritual devotion. It is not intended as a weight-loss diet

If you can't fast foods
If it is not possible for you to fast meals, consider fasting other things such as time spent with TV, the Internet, sports, hobbies, or other interests that command a lot of your time and attention.
There are some cautions to consider as you contemplate a food fast. It is wise to consult your doctor before you begin your fast to make sure there are no medical reasons why it would be harmful to radically change your diet short-term or long-term.
